The Brushbar in your vacuum cleaner is made from plastic with bristles that are rotate at high speeds to extract dirt from carpets.
Vacuum cleaners designed for carpeted floors feature a revolving agitator that revolves up to 6,500 RPM, driven by a belt attached to the motor. The main effect of a brushbar is to loosen dirt from the carpet fibres and move it upward to the suction motor.
Worn or damaged bristles will not effectively clean your carpet, so replacing the brushbar when the bristles are worn is a must. It's easy to tell when the bristles are worn out as they feel soft instead of stiff, and they may also have split ends.
If your vacuum cleaner is very noisy, the bearings in the brushbar may be defective or the endcaps may be clogged with hairs and carpet fibres. In either case, consider replacing the brushroll, especially if the bristles are showing signs of wear.
It's also a good idea to replace the belt when the brushbar is replaced.
Please check model fit list to ensure this part is correct for your model.
