One of the main functions of your washing machine is to drain the used, dirty water and replace it with fresh water during the rinse cycle.

To perform the draining process the washing machine uses a Drain Pump to remove the water from the tub through a drain hose. If either the pump or the drain hose is damaged in any way, the washing machine will not drain properly.
